Newport Beach Photos

Newport Beach is one town over from me down PCH. Below is a slideshow with a few pictures I took this past weekend around the beach. The pictures are from Balboa Peninsula and Balboa Island, sections of Newport Beach. The clip has sound, so turn on your speakers. Song is "Blue Light" by Bloc Party. Got weed?

Yesterday, after leaving the gym downtown, I decided to visit my favorite local spot, Sharkee's, and have some of their amazing Chicken Maui Tacos. Sharkee's is a great place to sit outside, have a taco, and just enjoy the California sun and air. They were having crazy happy hour specials, so I had to take advantage of the cheap beer as well. I ended up chatting with a couple named Bill & Mary from Wisconsin who were visiting for the week. They won a trip by watching the TV show, "The OC" and guessing how many kisses were in a single episode. They were friendly folk and we had a fun time hanging out. Bill even let me try some of his coconut shrimp. I had never thought of combining shrimp and coconut, but it was surprisingly delicious! They were celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary and heading out to Catalina Island the next day. (I've still yet to check out Catalina.) Bill's in a band back home called 16 West. Here's his website: http://www.16west.com. They insisted on taking my picture before they left. I guess I'll be in the slide show when they get back home. And here is a typical Californian... Ha.

The waitress forced me to have more beer and so I left Sharkee's not completely drunk, but not completely sober either. Have you ever seen someone try to skateboard with just a bit too much to drink? It's kinda funny. I didn't fall though! :)

While riding my skateboard back to my apartment from Sharkee's on Main St, a lady walking down the street stopped me and asked if I had any weed. I said, no, sorry. She then asked if I knew where she could get buy some. She said I saw you on your skateboard and thought you might be the right person to ask. She said she just moved here and didn't have any connections yet. I said me too. She was very distraught and frustrated at not being able to score some weed. I proceeded on my skateboard, not being able to help out a fellow citizen of Huntington Beach. It must be hard moving to a new city and not having any connections to get your drugs. A disclaimer for those not familiar with my sarcasm or dry humor: don't do drugs, they're bad. And stay in school.

Outer Banks Vacation

This week I am hanging out at a house on the beach of Outer Banks, North Carolina. When I lived on the East Coast, a group would annually go down to North Carolina and spend time on the beach. The house usually has around 20 people in it and we have the house for the whole week. The beach isn't as good as my new home, but I mainly made the cross-coastal trek to reconnect with my East Coast friends. My former roommate and good friend, Guy, is in the picture overlooking the beach.
