Visiting Family in Texas

Right now I am sitting on my sister's porch in my hometown of Pilot Point, Texas, watching the ranch trucks drive by and catching up on email. I am visiting my family here in Texas for a couple of weeks. I just got back today from visiting my mom up in Oklahoma. I spent a couple of days there and brought my sister's nephew, Jacob, with me. We had a fun time. He is an amazing kid. I've been dealing with computer issues over the last couple of days with my laptop and that has been a bit stressful, but other than that, am enjoying my time with family. My sister just bought this house across the street where we grew up. This is her first time living back in Pilot Point since we all lived here together as a family growing up. It's kind of weird being 'home' and not feeling like it is home. But I'm very glad she bought this house. It makes me feel more connected to my hometown.

I'm going to be here for another week or so and then I'm taking a trip to Thailand to hang out with my friend Michael from back in LA. He is working on a job out there for a week and we are going to trek across Thailand for a week after his job is done. I'm very excited about that. I've never been to Thailand and am looking forward to the adventure.

I'm working for my job throughout this trip and even in Thailand, so it's all a working vacation. My sister, Jacob, and myself are going to see Superman tomorrow in Dallas in IMAX 3D. I'm not sure who is more excited, Jacob, or myself. I think I am. :)

My Heritage Part II

Today I found out I screwed up in my heritage research. I made a mistake and assigned the wrong father for my great grandfather. So frustrating. The furthest I can go back now is to William A Thompson born in 1803 in North Carolina. I am stuck after that. Ugh. Argh.

My Heritage

Yesterday I made a breakthrough in discovering my heritage. We were never able to trace back far enough to know where my Thompson family came from. After reading a news article on the new expanded database on Ancestry.com, I decided to give it a try. By the end of the day, I had discovered my heritage. I love technology.

In 1751, John and Sarah Thompson came with their children, William, Elisha, and Mary, from Isle of Skye, Scotland (the Highlands area of Scotland) and settled in Anson County, North Carolina. My great many times grandfather is Elisha Thompson. Elisha had Richard "Patrick" Thompson in 1797 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. Patrick Thompson was the first Thompson in my direct line born in the United States.

Here is a link to the beautiful Skye Isle of Scotland, my long lost homeland.

Lapse

My apologies for letting my blog posts dwindle. I promise more very exciting posts soon. Things are currently in development that I am not at liberty to discuss at the moment. But the wait will be worth it!

Until then, I think you will find this quite humorous:

And if you're interested this is more information on the secretive, "Xenu," mentioned in the article:

And if you have more time, then watch South Park's explanation of Scientology, which is hilarious and true to what Scientology actually believes...

Preemptive Withdrawals

I accidentally broke my French Press coffee maker today. Or is it just called a French Press? Not sure. Glass shards are all over the sink. I really don't feel like going out and buying a new one tonight. I don't know what I will do for coffee tomorrow morning. This makes me sad.
